Fashion Tips Borrowed from JT
Justin Timberlake has been a fashion icon ever since he first hit the celebrity sphere as a young musician. While he may have started off young, there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind at this point that Timberlake has matured not only as a musician, but in the way he dresses. Now an actor, Timberlake now embodies the sleek look of the modern man, and is amongst the best dressed individuals in Hollywood. His sense of fashion and style has certainly not gotten unnoticed, and JT has been featured on dozens of fashion magazine covers from GQ, Esquire, InStyle, and many more.
For those who have a similar look and personality to Timberlake, it can be a good move to try to emulate his style. Dressing like Timberlake doesn’t have to be difficult so long as you have the right idea, and the following tips can help you to achieve one or all of his various looks.
Casual-Sophisticated
Timberlake embodies a variety of different looks, with “casual-sophisticated” being perhaps the most versatile. With this look, Timberlake often wears a sports coat over a v-neck sweater and tee, finishing the ensemble off with a simple pair of designer jeans. On top of this base, Timberlake typically employs at least a few different accessories. His wide-rimmed black plastic glasses are very commonly worn with this type of outfit, as is the fedora he wears to effortlessly. Add to this a knit scarf and a dressy pair of shoes (avoid loafers, however), and you’ve got a casual, yet sophisticated look that’s perfect for daily wear.
Casual-Basic
While Timberlake is no stranger to looking good when heading out, he also knows how to dress down when the time calls for it. Fortunately, this is one of the easiest Timberlake looks to pull off, as just about any guy can make the casual-basic look work for them. This look often consists of jeans and a black tee, which is typically accessorized with a dark-charcoal vest. Timberlake often wears a variety of loud necklaces when dressing casually, which can worn exceptionally well on some people, yet tends to fall flat when worn by others. Nevertheless, this is the perfect look for a casual jaunt out to the bar with friends, and can even work on a first date if you’re trying to prove that you aren’t pretentious in the way that you dress.
Vintage “Working” Look
One of the most interesting looks that Timberlake sometimes throws on is the vintage “working” look. A nod to period style, this look is trendy, sleek and more than worth working towards. A white-collared dress shirt underneath a v-neck sweater will work well here, especially when paired with a leather jacket and fedora or similar style of hat. This is great for wearing to the office if you work in a business-casual environment, as the look can go just as well with dress pants as it can jeans. Paired with black leather Italian shoes and a metallic-shade tie, you’ll be sure to turn heads when walking down the street dressed like this. This is an ideal look for the tail end of the summer, or for bringing back once spring hits again.
Elegant & Sophisticated
One of our favorite looks of JT is his 3-piece suit and skinny tie combination. His favorite suit colors are blues and grays paired with a solid colored skinny tie that perfectly accents the slim fit of his suit. When Mr Timberlake pulls out this look, you can almost be certain that he will also add a sleek tie bar and neatly folded white pocket square. Give this look a try yourself. You don’t have to be a celebrity to pull it off.
