The Classic Tailcoat
Classic white tie requires men to be dressed in a black or midnight blue tailcoat jacket. Both, single and double breasted cuts are popular. The classic tailcoat usually has pointed lapels that are not attached to the collar. Proper tailoring is key for a appropriatly looking white tie ensemble. The tailcot should hug the torso, the front should be long enough to cover the waistcoat but not too long to extend over the pants, and the tails should just reach the knees.
Waistcoat & Dress Shirt
The classic white tie waistcoat is white in color and typically made from pique. The formal waistcoat can be single or double breasted and typically has round or square lapels.
