With summer in full swing, there’s nothing more important than owning the right pair of sandals. As many people have learned over the years, not all sandals are created equal, with some being far higher in quality, and far more stylish than others. Choosing the right pair of sandals can be a highly individualized process, as not everyone looks for the same qualities in footwear. There’s no getting around the fact that the most important aspect of shopping for a pair of sandals comes down to choosing those which are comfortable. An uncomfortable pair of sandals can completely ruin one’s entire summer, and won’t do anything to make you look more attractive either. While each specific sandal can vary in comfort level, a lot of people find that it often comes down to the straps. Sandals that feature thin, rough straps, for example, are almost always less comfortable than those which have plush, thicker straps incorporated into them. You should also look at the sole, as this also has a large impact on whether or not a pair of sandals will be comfortable. In general, the sole should mold to your foot and feature some leeway; firm soles often make for discomfort. Also, look for a material that feels “breathable”. There is nothing more uncomfortable than having sweaty feet while walking in sandals. The most important thing is to try on as many different pairs as possible in order to determine which feel the most comfortable on your feet.
Color and Style
Color and style are two very important things to think about when setting out to purchase a pair of sandals. For example, those which feature bright, excessive colors can completely wreck a summertime ensemble, which more natural, subdued colors usually serve as good support for an outfit. The style should be relatively low-key as well; avoid grommets, over-the-top straps or any other elements of a sandal that might make it stand out a bit too much. The goal with sandals is to avoid drawing attention to your feet, which can be easier said than done when you’ve got a loud, attention-grabbing pair to work with.
Wearing Sandals Effectively
Wearing sandals in an attractive manner doesn’t have to be difficult, but you’ve got to take the time to ensure you’re doing it right. Choose neutral-colored sandals to pair with most outfits, as clashing can occur otherwise. You may also wish to avoid wearing sandals with khakis/jeans, as they typically look best when worn with shorts. The same principle can be applied to shirts; short-sleeved shirts typically work better with sandals than long-sleeved shirts. Ultimately, finding your style with sandals will mostly come down to experimentation, and can take a while before you feel truly comfortable with your look.
