Tying a Classic Striped Tie

Best Tie Knot for Regimental Striped Ties

regimental-necktieMost men will know at least one or two ways to tie a necktie. Most popular, but also one of the more complicated ways to tie mens ties, is the double Windsor knot. The double Windsor is a good all-around knot, but there are a few shirt and tie combinations that call for a different knot. A good example are the classic striped ties also commonly known as British ties, Repp-stripe ties, Collegiate ties, or Regimental Ties.

Classic Tie Needs a Classic Knot
Because the Regimental tie is a timeless design that instantly reminds us of a royal British heritage, it needs to be tied with a traditional tie knot. No knot is better suited than the classic Four in Hand knot. The Four in Hand is relatively small in shape, at least when combined to the Pratt knot or double Windsor knot. It is also asymmetric a look that perfectly pairs with the traditional striped design. Although the four in hand knot looks nice with narrow and medium spread collars, we like it most of worn with a button down collared dress shirt that is made from a linen-like oxford cloth.
