Special Size Ties
Finding the Right Necktie Length
Most men will have no problem tying a normal length necktie to the right length – so that the tip of the neck tie ends near the center of the belt buckle. Tall men as well as men with a larger neck size on the other hand might have difficulty doing so. The normal length necktie has a total un-tied length of 57 – 59 inches. Extra long ties start at 61 inches. Mens Ties that are longer than 65 inches are considered XXL. Besides the wearer’s height and neck size, the type of necktie knot tied also determines the tie length needed. Larger tie knots such as the Double Windsor Knot require more of the tie’s length. Typically men above 6 foot 3 inches (less than 3% of the US male population) should consider a longer length tie.
Ties for Boys
Just as tall men need longer length neckties, kids will require a tie that is shorter and narrower. Our collection of boys ties will be perfect for kids up to a height of 4 feet 10 inches. Kids taller than this can, for the most part, wear a regular length tie.
Because we at Mens-Ties.com understand the importance of matching a boys tie to adult ties, most of our boys neckties also come in regular as well as XL length. Now the entire family, wedding party, or group can go dressed in matching neckties to the next formal gathering.
A Guide to Skinny Ties
Skinny ties are neckties that have a width of 1.5 – 2.5 inches at the widest part. The skinny necktie first originated during the late 1960s and has since then been a necktie style that has gone in and out of style. Skinny neckties are especially popular among younger men. They can be worn with traditional suit and shirts as well accessorize a more alternative, hipster, and non-business look. When matching the skinny tie to a suit it is important to match the width of the tie to the lapels of a suit. Wearing a skinny necktie with a wide lapeled suit will look out of place. In addition skinny ties look best on tall and thin men.
