Best Dressed Men at the 2013 Grammys: Justin Timberlake

JT Impressed us with his Tom Ford Tux, Black & White Loafers, and Oversized Bow Tie

Anyone who considers themselves to be a big music fan would be remiss to not watch the Grammy Awards each year. The show is without a doubt one of the more enjoyable award shows of the year, featuring plenty of performances and celebrities who do everything they can in order to dress their absolute best. The 2013 Grammy Awards were no exception to the rule, with plenty of well-dressed celebrities showing up to walk the red carpet. It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from Justin Timberlake, but this didn’t do anything to keep him showing up in a dapper outfit. Here are a few aspects of Timberlake’s look at the Grammy’s, as well as how you might want to incorporate his style into your own.

Timberlake did a great job pairing old-school elegance with modern flair. What stood out the most are the black & white loafers, the moire fabric tux, and the butterfly bow tie.

A Tom Ford Tux
Tom Ford was a popular option among Grammy attendees this year, and Justin Timberlake definitely did a great job with his look even if he may have jumped on the bandwagon. Timberlake walked the red carpet in an elegant black Tom Ford tux, which seemed to be fit perfectly to his body type. Featuring a white dress shirt with classic black button studs, black and white penny-loafers, and a bowtie so large that it would only work on someone like him, Timberlake certainly didn’t hold back with his look at this year’s Grammy’s.

Textured Tux
While his black & white Al-Capone style loafers, and his oversized bow tie certainly stood out, it was the fabric of the jacket that caught our attention the most. Designer Tom Ford created this piece from a so-called moire fabric that uses a special weave in combination with silk yarns to create a woodgrain-like texture. While this piece should be reserved for a rock-star, it certainly made an impression on us.

The Perfect Pocket Square
Sometimes you need to accent a black tie ensemble in order to fully bring out its charm, and that’s exactly what Justin Timberlake did with the pocket square he chose. Timberlake augmented his ensemble with a black handkerchief that would have otherwise blended right in with his ensemble, except for the fact that it featured elegant white edging. The difference that this made in terms of his overall look was simply astounding, and it’s fair to say that he wouldn’t have looked nearly as good without this subtle accent.

Takeaways for the Modern Man
Modern men can learn a lot from how Timberlake dressed at the Grammy’s, as he truly is the face of the modern gentleman. Don’t hesitate to try wearing a large bow tie the next time you wear black tie attire; not everyone can pull this off, but it works incredibly well for certain people. In addition, you should always try to incorporate an accent piece into your look, such as the pocket square Timberlake chose. The more subtle, the more effective it’ll be.
