The ascot is making a fashion comeback so we thought we would make a quick and easy guide on how to wear an ascot. Ascots have traditionally been worn for formal daytime occasions and are worn with an open dress shirt collar. Trends are rapidly changing and ascots are once again becoming a popular and masculine accessory.
The ascot should be worn with an open collar and is used to add color and class to any ensemble. Many times, ascots are worn with jackets and or sweaters. Ascots became iconic in the thirties when they became staple accessories for Hollywood movie stars like Carey Grant and John Wayne. Ascots slowly fell out of trend but are quickly gaining popularity.

In order to wear an ascot properly, you must tie it and then tuck it into your open collar. You want the color and the pattern to compliment the other elements of your ensemble. Think of the ascot like a dressed down necktie. The ascot will add a half inch of color to the neckline and hide the base of the neck.
