Must Know Mens Fall Fashion Trends

The Most Important Trends in Men’s Fashion this Fall Season

Harris-Tweed-FabricFor those who consider themselves to be fashion-forward, it can be very difficult to avoid embracing trends. After all, most people want to keep up with what’s hot in fashion, and it’s not very difficult to stay informed about the latest trends if you take the time to follow men’s style. This being said, a lot of trends are fleeting, and are far from worth embracing. While there are plenty of “dud” trends out there, there are some that are very much worth paying attention to. The following are just a few trends that you should consider paying attention to in fall 2012, all of which are worth experimenting with. The Steampunk Look
A lot of people have heard the term “Steampunk” being thrown around as of late, but most simply have no idea what it’s all about. Steampunk can be defined in three words; Victorian science fiction. While this may leave a great deal of room for interpretation, Steampunk is quite specific when applied to the world of fashion. Much of the look is inspired from Victorian-era pieces (think top hats, long coats and detailed footwear), although Steampunk tends to take these items and update them with futuristic details; gears and other mechanical elements often find their way into the Steampunk aesthetic. Not surprisingly, Steampunk appeals to a great deal of different types of individuals; especially the fashion-forward. Our tip: add one or two of these pieces to your look. The key here is to be subtle. Don’t overdo it!

Trench Coats
Trench coats fall in and out of fashion on a regular basis. It just so happens, however, that they are more popular at the moment than they’ve been in quite a while. Trench coats are not only fashionable, but happen to provide a great deal of warmth; perfect for those who are looking to keep the chilly winds at bay this fall. This year’s trench coats are different from those of the past, however; they feature a shorter, more modern cut akin to the modern suits that have all but taken over men’s formalwear. While shopping for a trench coat can certainly be quite expensive, you can get a lot of mileage out of a single piece. To save even more on your purchase, consider looking for vintage trench coats at thrift stores; you’ll pay a fraction of what you might if they were new. Spend some of these savings on a good tailor to ensure a perfect fit and a more modern cut.

Tweed
Tweed is something that a lot of men find themselves uncomfortable with, and perhaps for good reason. After all, tweed can be quite loud, and even rather unattractive when worn incorrectly. The fact is, tweed coats and other items (blazers and sports coats especially) can look great in the fall, and often feature color schemes that fit perfectly with chilly fall evenings. You can often find tweed suits for relatively low prices, and they’re perfect for an evening out during the months of September and October. Before making a purchase, however, it’s best to work with a tailor in order to ensure that the suit you buy fits your figure correctly. The more you focus on fit, the better your chances of finding a tweed suit that truly “works.”
